Worn, Written & Created | Black History Month Exhibition | Austin ISD Performing Arts Center
Worn, Written & Created is a Black History Month exhibition at the Austin ISD Performing Arts Center that brings together K–12 student artists, educators, and community artists in a shared creative space. This open call invites submissions in visual art, fashion, and writing that reflect Black history, culture, identity, and lived experience.
The exhibition centers creative practices that tell stories through what is worn, what is written, and what is made. Submissions may explore personal narratives, cultural traditions, historical reflection, contemporary identity, or future vision. Artists are encouraged to submit work that reflects authenticity, voice, and meaning rather than a single style or approach.
The exhibition celebrates creative expression across generations and creates space for connection, learning, and shared storytelling.
This exhibition is designed to support:
- Student voice
- Cross-generational representation
- Community engagement through the arts
- Public celebration of Black history through multiple artistic disciplines
AISD student, staff, and faculty works will be exhibited at the Austin ISD Performing Arts Center during Black History Month and will be accessible to students, families, educators, and community members.
