Dear Parents,

We will be having the TELPAS Online Assessment for 2nd - 5th grade on March 3rd - 5th and 10th - 12th. Students in 2nd & 3rd grade will test the TELPAS Online Listening & Speaking on March 3rd and the TELPAS Online Reading & Writing on March 10 (3rd grade) and March 12 (2nd grade). Students in 4th & 5th grade will test the TELPAS Online Listening & Speaking on March 4th (4th grade) and March 5th (5th grade). The TELPAS Online Reading & Writing will be on March 10th (4th grade) and March 12th (5th grade).

TELPAS fulfills federal requirements for assessing all Emergent Bilingual students in K-12 in the four language domains: listening, speaking, reading & writing. The TELPAS assessment results provide a measure of progress, indicating annually where each Emergent Bilingual student is on a continuum of English Language development designed for second-language learners. This continuum is divided into four proficiency levels: beginning, intermediate, advanced, and advanced high. The progress of students along this continuum is the basis for the TELPAS reporting system and the key to helping schools monitor whether their students are making steady annual growth in learning to listen, speak, read, and write in English.

Students who are Emergent Bilinguals or English Language Learners will take the TELPAS Online Assessment in Listening & Speaking and Reading & Writing.

Please make sure that your student(s) go to sleep early and eat breakfast. Students need to arrive by 7:40 a.m.
